Hello! I’m Sonika Bhandari, a passionate Learning & Development (L&D) professional and instructional designer with a strong academic and professional background in Psychology, Human Resources, and Adult Learning. My career spans diverse industries, allowing me to cultivate a versatile skill set and a unique perspective on designing engaging and effective training experiences.
My professional journey began in India, where I took on diverse roles in learning strategy development and employee engagement. At Flow and Navayuvak Entrepreneurs, I led strategic employee development initiatives while also contributing to community education programs. Alongside my professional work, I conducted educational workshops for NGOs and social impact organizations, driven by a deep passion for empowering others through education and skill development. These experiences not only sharpened my instructional design expertise but also reinforced my values of empathy, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
In 2022, I relocated to Vancouver, embarking on a new professional chapter while integrating my expertise into roles in Canada. My first role was as a Human Resources Coordinator at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) Centre, where I focused on volunteer recruitment, training, and community engagement, further strengthening my experience in people development and organizational growth. Later, I took on the role of Learning & Development Specialist at Factor’s Group of Companies, where I design innovative training programs that go beyond information delivery—creating truly transformative learning experiences that foster engagement and continuous growth.
Beyond my professional work, Vancouver’s postcard-worthy charm and vibrant culture continue to shape my experiences. I love exploring scenic trails, cycling through the city, and trying diverse cuisines, all of which bring a sense of adventure and balance to my life, both personally and professionally. I also enjoy writing, using it as a creative outlet to reflect on experiences, share insights, and explore new ideas.
I am deeply committed to community engagement. Since moving to Vancouver, I have actively volunteered at a senior care home and participated in various cultural initiatives, fostering meaningful connections and contributing to social well-being. My passion for AI & technology fuels my curiosity, inspiring me to explore innovative ways to enhance learning and development strategies. I believe that immersing in community-driven experiences and staying at the forefront of technological advancements enriches both personal growth and professional practice.
I am committed to continuous learning and growth, currently advancing my expertise in Adult Learning and Development at the University of Toronto. This dedication to lifelong learning strengthens my approach to designing training programs that are engaging, impactful, and grounded in psychological principles.
My global experience, community involvement, and passion for innovative learning design contribute to driving growth and fostering excellence. Whether you’re looking for a dedicated L&D professional to lead your next initiative or a collaborative partner in creating meaningful training experiences, I look forward to connecting and exploring opportunities to make a lasting impact.
